​District Coordinator

Introduction
​Aga Khan University - Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED) was
established in 1993 with the overall objective of becoming a leader in
educational reform and improvement, especially in developing countries. The aim
of the Institute is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of schools and
other educational institutions in the country through innovation, policy
development, practice, training and research.
Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of District
Coordinator for the Strengthening Teachers’ Education in Pakistan
(STEP) project based in Khairpur,
Sindh.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

* supervise and support district based activities, which will entail extensive
traveling within the district(s) related to STEP Project
* provide support to supervisor in planning and implementing academic and
social activities for assigned project
* coordinate with AKU-IED, District Education Officer and District Head
Teachers for successful implementation of project activities
* provide academic support to the project team and supervise activities at
Tehsil Council and Whole School Improvement Programme
* monitor and supervise the field based activities through the Performance
Measurement Frame work of STEP project
* lead the formation and strengthening of local groups within
communities
* produce and submit quality reports, and present on monthly, quarterly and
annually on different platforms or forums, such as quarterly meetings in
AKU-IED, meetings with donors and other stakeholders
* prepare training manuals and implement various training programmes for
assigned district
* supervise and support administrative staff in carrying out their assigned
duties.
Requirements
​Applicants must possess:

* a Master’s degree, preferably MEd with specialization in Teacher Education,
Educational Leadership & Management or Education Planning &
Management.
* minimum two years of academic experience, preferably in teacher education,
school improvement and improvement of primary education
programmes/activities
* strong communication skills in English and Urdu (both oral and
written)
* ability to understand regional languages will be an added advantage
* capability to manage multiple tasks under pressure, meet stringent deadlines
and work well in teams
* proficiency in MS Office
* willingness to travel domestically for project related
assignments.
